Frequently
Asked Questions

I am embarrassed about my issue. How do I have this conversation with you, and are my health issues confidential?

Many people are embarrassed to talk about their personal and intimate health and this feeling is totally ok. Kathie is experienced and sensitive in dealing with these issues and always works to ensure you are comfortable. If parts of your health history are particularly personal or traumatic it is up to you how much you share. However, the best results are often achieved when all the information is known.

As a health professional all information you provide is private and confidential. No information is shared with a third party without your written consent.

I don’t live near you. Can I still see you as a client?

Kathie mainly works online and so can see you wherever you live in the UK.

How often do I need to have an appointment?

The frequency of appointments is dependant on a number of factors. For most a follow up will be scheduled within 4 weeks of the first appointment. After that appointments can be scheduled as your situation dictates.

Can I email you questions about my treatment?

It depends. If it’s a quick one line enquiry to do with the logistics of prescription then usually its fine. If you have a few questions or if you have experienced something that would require a discussion then it is recommended you book a 30 minute follow up consultation to go over your concerns and care. If things up come up between your appointments that are not urgent please make a note of them and you can discuss them at your next appointment.

Can you offer any discounts?

Kathie works to keep the prices reasonable, but reflective of the time and experience that goes into caring for your health. Because of this she is unable offer discounts. If finances are a little tight please mention this in your initial consultation. Kathie will be able to tailor your prescription and follow up schedule to take this into account. Taking finances into consideration may mean that your care is slightly modified and as such it may take longer to achieve optimal results. In all cases dietary and lifestyle changes which often have a big impact and costs the least.

The natural health sector has a regulatory and ethical component, both of which entails a cost, include professional training and a large number of study and clinic hours, professional indemnity insurance, fees to professional bodies, continuing professional development activities and compliance resources to ensure we stay on top of current regulation and research.

I already have a great complementary practitioner. Can you work with them?

Totally! In these instances Kathie requests that your current practitioner write a referral letter outlining your current care and protocols. The work we will do together may be more specialist than with your other practitioner. With your permission Kathie will inform the other practitioner of the recommended protocols and anything identified they need to support you in. Your practitioner can contact Kathie if they have any concerns with the shared care.

I am taking pharmaceuticals for my issue. Can you still help?

Yes, absolutely. You be asked to being a list of all current pharmaceutical and supplemental medications to your initial consultation. There are still many safe interventions that can be implemented alongside. Being aware of what pharmaceuticals you are taking may change the protocol and suggestions slightly. Please let Kathie know as fully as possible about this area.

Do I have to have any special testing done before I come to see you?

If you have symptoms that have not been tested (swabbed) medically such as discharge, bleeding, itching or pain then it is essential that you visit your medical provider, such as a GP, for testing. If you have had recent testing or assessment please ensure you supply the results of these to Kathie in your intake form. In your time together Kathie will let you know if further testing is required and how you can access this testing.

What is the health contract that I have seen mentioned on your site?

Before we agree to work together Kathie will ask you to sign this simple ‘health contract’ to say that you consent to working with her and that you understand that she am only able to help you if you follow the advice and prescriptions given, following your consultations. It’s really important for Kathie to know that both you and her understand our commitments when working together to improve your health, and she ask these things from you as my client to ensure you get the best outcomes.  You will be sent the form when you sign up as a patient, but important points to note are that you will be asked to:

  1. Participate fully and actively in your plan, taking any prescribed medicine and following advice in accordance with the given instructions.

  2. Notify Kathie immediately of any changes in your health condition, or if you have any questions or concerns regarding your treatment.

  3. Notify Kathie immediately if medicine prescribed by your Doctor changes, or in the case of females, you fall pregnant.

  4. Pay for any treatment in advance, or abide by any other terms verbally agreed during your initial consultation if following an Ad-hoc programme.

  5. Give at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment with Kathie, even if you've pre-paid for a treatment plan. Kathie reserve the right to charge a £50 fee for late cancellations at her discretion.

  6. If following an Ad-hoc programme, settle invoices for the balance of your consultation and any additional medicines/supplements at the end of your consultation. Payment is by BACS or card only.
